Pandas
After the success of his Scatty Cats (see below) Steven has launched a new series of animal paintings based on the Panda. Inspired by designs by local Hong Kong artists the watercolour Pandas are intended to combine the 'looseness' of the Scatty Cats with the reality of the Panda. The settings indicate the Chinese environment with hints of bamboo vegetation, and in many cases this is enhanced by Chinese text added in red ink and typically reading "Panda, Bamboo, Picture".
These images are available as watercolour originals, mounted or framed, as prints on canvass, and as greetings cards.
Scatty Cats
Following the technique of Serbian painter Endre Penovac, this year I have experimented with very loosely defined images of black cats. Penovac worked in black ink, while I have used watercolour, black iron oxide or lunar black, both granulating pigments contributing to the random marks making up the cats' fur. In some examples other colours have been included, and in all cases the balance between randomness and control has been varied to produce the 'scatty' effect.

Alcohol Ink
'Bouquet' has been sold privately with mounted prints and greetings cards of the image available in the Creative Hub, Maidstone.
