Scatty Cats

Following the technique of Serbian painter Endre Penovac, this Spring I have experimented with very loosely defined images of black cats. Penovac worked in black ink, while I have used watercolour, black iron oxide or lunar black, both granulating pigments contributing to the random marks making up the cats fur. In some examples other colours have been included, and in all cases the balance between randomness and control has been varied.

Alcohol Ink
On show in the 'inaspace' exhibition in Whitstable were four of Steven's alcohol ink paintings including 'Bouquet' and 'Landscape' below. Three of the four have been sold (including 'Landscape') while new works are being prepared for the series of Summer exhibitions.
